gina carano - On ‘Haywire’ Star Gina Carano, Ewan McGregor Says, ‘There’s Something Incredibly Dangerous and Powerful About Her’
Ewan McGregor and his fellow co-stars are telling anyone who asks them that they applaud Gina Carano's acting and stunt work. I read a review from someone who has seen a premiere of the movie and who recognizes Gina from her MMA fighting days. His article seems to agree with them.
A quick scan of this "Haywire" movie review, revealed that the author (Jesse) previewed director Steven Soderbergh's, "Haywire" starring Gina Carano, MMA fighter and former American Gladiator—and that he liked it.
Apparently, the woman formerly known as the "face of women's MMA" can act too.
Jesse Holland, the guy who saw the movie preview, said, "That's not to suggest she'll be walking the red carpet at this year's Academy Awards, but keep in mind, Carano is sharing the screen with such celluloid legends as Antonio Banderas and Michael Douglas. Think about that for a second. Our Gina Carano is chewing scenery with Gordon-freaking-Gekko."
Big smile crossing my face right now. I'm so excited to see Gina's "everything" flash across the big screen.
Quotes from fellow film stars
Here are quotes from her co-stars weighing in on Gina's performance and on what it's like to work with her. The following comments are taken from this "Stars rave over Gina Carano at the 'Haywire' Hollywood Premiere" video.
Channing Tatum: "There is not a single girl or guy in the business right now who can do what she does. If she wants to keep acting, she can. She held it toe-to-toe with some of the best actors in Hollywood."
Bill Paxton (who plays Gina's dad in the movie): "You know there's a lot of great female, action stars, but usually, they have to cut them up so much to make them look like they're really tough."
Gina did all her own stunts and fight sequences. Channing Tatum said, "there was only one jump that they wouldn't let her do. She would have done it all. She's the second best athlete I've ever worked with. She just, can do things, that no one else can do."
