Apple: "The world is better because Steve"

The family has issued a statement explaining that Jobs has died "peacefully" and surrounded by loved ones

One of the great innovators of the past 75 years has died in California on Wednesday night. At 56 years, and after the 21 co-founding Apple, Steve Jobs, iconic figure who transformed the eating habits of several generations, lost the battle against cancer that consumed the last years of his life. In a brief statement, Apple has reported that Steve Jobs had died. "We are deeply saddened by having to announce the death today of Steve Jobs". "His brilliance, his passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that have enriched our lives. The world is immeasurably better because of Steve," concludes the statement.

The family has issued another separate note explaining that Jobs had died "peacefully" and surrounded by their loved ones. "We know many of you mourn the loss with us and we ask that you respect our privacy during this time of grief." Both the company and the family have not made mention of the cause of death of the creator of Ipod, Iphone and Iphone. Jobs struggled for years with pancreatic cancer and has long been subjected to a liver transplant. Last August, Jobs left the presidency of the company and gave his place to Tim Cook.

"I always said that if the day came when I could not fulfill my duties and expectations as CEO of Apple would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately that day has come," said Jobs then in the letter that went to council enterprise management. It was not the first time that the executive was forced to relegate their duties because of his health. Earlier in 2004, he had pancreatic cancer several months of work section. Since then, speculation about his health did not stop investors and markets have been aware of its evolution, directly related to the company's future.

Tribute on the web

Minutes after his death, the Apple website was transformed into a tribute to an irreplaceable man the company home page entirely dedicated to a picture of Jobs with the following note: "Steve Jobs 1955-2011". By clicking on the snapshot revealed the following: "Apple has lost a visionary and a creative genius and the world has lost an extraordinary human being. Those of us who have been fortunate to work with him and know we lost a friend and a mentor who inspired us. Steve leaves behind a company that only he could build and his spirit will always be the basis for Apple. "

During his long career spanning over 30 years in the industry, Silicon Valley Jobs transformed from a place that only produce fruit in a center of innovation in the technology industry.
